“NFF5K and Family Fun Day” Louisville
May 18, 2019
Thank you to all of our sponsors and product donors for helping to make our Inaugural Necrotizing Fasciitis Foundation 5k and Family Fun Day a success. We couldn't have done it without you!
Our guest speakers
Wayne Dankner (Atox Bio), Andrew C. Bernard (MD, FACS Chief, Section of Trauma and Acute Surgery, Trauma Medical Director, Paul A. Kearney MD Chair of Trauma Surgery), and Aimee Copeland (Executive Director of the Aimee Copeland Foundation, licensed master social worker, and Necrotizing Fasciitis survivor).
Our NFF Co-Founder and Co-CEO Tim Hayden, Co-Founder and COO Melissa Sanders, and Co-CEO and Chairman of the Board Lindsay Welch.
Our virtual 5k participants
Those who couldn’t make it to the event in Louisville participated virtually from New Jersey, Indiana, Texas, and California.
Stan completed his virtual 5k from Indianapolis where he was on vacation.
““My sister Susan and I had a blast walking the [virtual] 5k this morning! We saw turtles, ladybugs, ducks with their babies... we even saw fish jumping. It was a beautiful morning for a walk along the river. We are going to participate in the next one, we are making our plans already!””
Team #DezStrong met up in Stockton, CA and Ft Sam Houston, TX to support NF survivor Dez Del Barba who was in the hospital recovering at the time.
Congratulations to our first, second, and third place winners in the men’s, women’s, and “14 and under” divisions.
All of the NF survivors present at the event posed for a group photo and took turns signing our “NFF5k Survivor Ball”.
The Dave and Busters street team kept us entertained, and Rick’s Smoke Pit and SnoWhat Snoballs food trucks kept us fed.
Chick-fil-a was kind enough to donate meals for our volunteers.
MisPits and Friends Rescue was present for Pre and Post 5k puppy cuddles.
We are happy to announce that one of their dogs met his new family at our event!
Bounce houses from Louisville Inflatables & Events were available to keep the kids entertained.
